Greenpoint Veterans Memorial Parade

Author Well another one in the books. The parade this year step off at 9A.M. sharp. The Grand Marshall this year was Rudy Fafalak.
After the mass at St. Anthony’s they marched back to the post and shrot memorial service was held. The service ended with the playing of Taps and Amazing Grace.
After the ceremony the multitudes and the masses went inside the post to party late into the night.

USS Constituion Flag Rasing
While Post members were attending the christening of the USS Michael P. Murphy on May 7 at the Bath Iron Works in Bath Maine, a flag raising was held on the USS Constitution in Boston, Massachusetts the same day.
Two flags, an American and US Navy Seal flag were sent to the ship by the Post and the Sons Of The American Legion. The American flag was flow in honor of Michale’s 35th birthday, the Seal flag was flown in commemoration of his faithful and dedicated service.
USS Michael P. Murphy Christening
On March 1, 2011 an invitation was received by the post to attend the christening of the USS Michael P. Murphy on May 7 at the Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine. Four members from the post attended the ceremony.
At the same time the Pentagon Channel provided a live stream of the ceremony which was viewed by other post members in the post lounge.
Ladies Chinese Dinner
On April 10, 2011 the Ladies Auxiliary held their annual Chinese Luncheon.

St. Patrick’s Day
On March 12 the SAL held their first St. Patrick’s dinner. Plenty of corned beef flowed along with Guinness’s and Jameisons Irish whiskey. The event raised a nice sum of money. A 50/50 was held and with the proceeds going to the the Geenpoint Veterans Memorial Parade.
Annual Memorial Mass
On March 12, 2011 the Post held it’s annual Memorial Mass for deceased members.
March 5, 2011 – A Night At The Races
On Saturday March 5 2011 the parade committee held their annual Night At The Races & March Madness BBQ. The event was well attended. Half way through the races out came the barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs.
The last race was the human horse race, people had bid on stick horses and at the roll of the dice advanced to the finish line.

December 12, brought the Annual Commander’s Christmas Party.
