ADOPT-A-UNIT

Recently, one of our members has deployed to Afghanistan. This is after having already served multiple tours in Iraq. We believe that a strong supportive connection between the young men and women of our armed forces and the civilian communities they serve is crucial to troop morale. Soldiers enjoy the letters and care packages sent that express gratitude. Adopting a U.S. military unit is a great way to honor active military personal. We would like to support our member’s unit and send some of the items that are not readily accessible to them while serving at their current duty station. We would appreciate donations of items for the packages (we will also take monetary donations) from individuals, community organizations and businesses to assist us in this project.

Below are examples of the items that can and cannot be sent. The donations can be brought to the locations below on a date to be announced. If you have any questions please call or email us. Thank you for your support. God Bless You, God Bless Our Veterans, and God Bless America!

The Claude B. Govan Tri-State Chapter, TAI is having a fundraiser,

showing George Lucas’ “Red Tails” on MLK, Jr. Holiday at the Empire

Theater (42nd Street and 8th Avenue, South east corner). A donation

to the Chapter of $25 with children between 9 and 12 free.

They want me to plan a reception earlier in the day, but I am unsure

whether we can afford to do that in Manhattan. In addition to the

fact that I have a Board Meeting in San Antonio, Texas and will not

return until the 15th.

Please help get the word out and email me at patt.terre@yahoo.com with

the name of the individuals or Association and how many will attend in

their party.

Here is the USA Today Link to the article.

Well another Legion started last month with the Installation of new officers on September 2, 2011.  Officers were inducted on the Post level, The ladies Auxiliary and the Sons Of he Legion.

On September 11, 2011 the Post held the 10th anniversary of 911. The day began with a Mass at St. Stanislaus Kostka church. In the afternoon the Post held their own ceremony. Photos are HERE.

September 17, 2011 was the 3rd annual Greenpoint Lions Bathtub races. The Post won a trophy for best Bathtub Design and another trophy for winning a race.  Photos are HERE.

New photos of the parade have been added to the 2010 – 2011 Legion Year. You can check them out HERE.

Check out the video on You Tube.

Well another one in the books. The parade this year step off at 9A.M. sharp. The Grand Marshall this year was Rudy Fafalak.

After the mass at St. Anthony’s  they marched back to the post and shrot memorial service was held. The service ended with the playing of Taps and Amazing Grace.

After the ceremony the multitudes and the masses went inside the post to party late into the night.

To see more pictures of the festivities go HERE . I will post more pictures when I get them.

I will also be putting up a video of the march to St. Anthony shortly.
